Giving Away The Bride

One of the most understated but deepest relationships in human life is the relationship between a loving farther and daughter.
Claires dad, Bill, has been an inspiration to her due to his unselfish, honest and caring outlook on life. One of the rare occasions that this relationship is openly acknowledged, is at a wedding ceremony.

Claires dad, Bill, , represents all of us. he particularly represents his family. But today in a special gesture, he symbolizes his own personal love for Claire.
So mindful of these values I now ask him, who brings this woman Claire to be married to this man, Matthew?

Celebrant : Introduction:

It is my honour and pleasure today to be here for this very special occasion.

I call upon everyone here present to be a fellow witness with me in this union between Claire…xxx… & Matthew…xxx… We are here not only to witness their commitment to each other, but also to wish them well and every happiness in their life together.

Claire & Matthew have invited us, their family and closest friends, to be present with them during this time. What they mean to each other is obvious. Their commitment to each other had been made for some time; they are adult; they have chosen to live together; their choice is responsible, free, independent and happy. They have chosen to journey through life together.

Claire & Matthew, by a mutual commitment to creating an atmosphere of care, consideration and respect, by willingness to face the tensions and anxieties that underline human life, you can make your wedded life a source of great strength and joy. Your love for one another and your willingness to accept each other’s strong points and weaknesses with understanding and respect will provide a foundation for continued growth and intimacy.

Celebrant: I, Jan Gielnik, civil celebrant, am duly authorised by law to solemnize, according to the law. Before you are joined together in marriage in my presence and in the presence of these witnesses, I am to remind you of the solemn, and binding nature of the relationship into which you are now about to enter.

Marriage, according to Law in Australia, is the union of a man and a woman, to the exclusion of all others, voluntarily entered into for life.

Will you take Claire to be your lawful wife?
Will you love her, comfort her,
Honour and keep her, in sickness and in health,
and, forsaking all others, keep only unto her,
so long as you both shall live?
